PESTECH is committed in empowering the off-grid communities to improve their lives through renewable energy solutions. In our efforts to expand in this area, PESTECH Energy Sdn Bhd (“PEN”) has collaborated with the Perak State Government to implement a high technology solar pilot project at Kampung Batu 23, Tapah.

On 14 October 2019, YAB Dato’ Seri Ahmad Faizal Bin Dato’ Azumu, the Chief Minister of Perak visited the project site to view the implementation of this pilot project. He was accompanied by other VIPs, i.e. Encik Harulnizam Bin Abd Rahman, Director – Perak’s Department of Orang Asli Development, Encik Shahrul Affendi Baharudin, District Officer of Batang Padang, YBhg. Dato’ Mohamed Salleh Mohamed Alli, Director of PESTECH Solutions Sdn Bhd and Mr. Vind Sidhu, Chief Executive Officer of PEN.

The pilot project called ‘Rural Electrification Project’ by PEN was intended to improve the living condition of the Orang Asli community by providing them access to renewable energy via solar power using the Photovoltaic (PV) solar panels. This will benefit over 100 villagers living in houses that has no access to electricity for the past 20 years due to its remote location. With installation of this solution at the entrance of the village, they can now enjoy electricity to illuminate their house and use electrical appliances.

The solution consists of 3.4kW solar panels, energy server and supercapacitor-based energy storage banks, served as a long term, cost-saving solution due to its low maintenance cost. It has a storage life cycle of 45 years; thus, the replacement and disposal costs are deferred. In addition, the equipment is environmental-friendly as the Super Capacitor-based energy storage is non-toxic and has no risk of thermal runaway.
